The Helsinki-Tallinn Race, Finland’s largest offshore sailing race, is held every year in August. This race was first arranged in 1993. The popularity of this race is due to it’s being an exciting night sail, while also being a pleasant excursion from Helsinki to Tallinn. The start is on a Friday evening outside Helsinki and the finishing line is reached Saturday morning outside Tallinn. In the last few years about 180 boats and about 1000 crew members have participated in the race. The mayors of both cities are patrons of the race. Part of the profits from the race are donated to the Tallinn Children’s Hospital. The race is open to single keel yachts. The race has a pursuit start and is governed by LYS- and ORC Club handicap rules. Business yachts have a class of their own and they and their crew are provided special services in the Tallinn harbor. The most important documents related to the race are
